2013 Shows Announced

Sunday, 18 March 2012

Whistle Down The Wind - Nov 2013We are delighted to announce two great shows that we will be performing in 2013.

Firstly, in May 2013 at the Palace Theatre in Redditch, we will be performing a revue based on the four seasons (provisionally called ‘Songs of the Seasons’). This will be an all-singing, all-dancing show of a similar scope to our recent 50 Years of ROS production.

Then, for our major Autumn production in 2013, we are delighted to announce that we will be bringing a ‘first’ to Redditch, when we proudly present Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND.

Based on the novel by Mary Hayley Bell and subsequent Richard Attenborough-produced film, Whistle Down the Wind follows the fortunes of a fugitive caught between the prejudice of adults and the innocence of the young in Louisiana in 1959.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s emotive score combines hauntingly beautiful love songs and explosive rock music with lyrics by acclaimed rock’n’roll songwriter Jim Steinman.

After successfully playing at the Aldwych Theatre in London for over two years, the show toured the UK and USA, and we are thrilled to be bringing it to the Palace Theatre, Redditch, in November 2013.

We hope you can join us for all our exciting productions in 2012 and 2013!

The King And I Nominations

Sunday, 18 March 2012

We are thrilled to announce that our November 2011 production of The King And I has been nominated for two awards at NODA West Midlands’ presentation evening in April 2012.

We have received a nomination for Best Musical in our area (Worcestershire East, Area 12) and a nomination for Best Programme (West Midlands).

We will keep our fingers crossed for the results, which will be announced at the presentation evening in Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 15 April.

UPDATE: Sadly we didn’t win the awards, but we were delighted to be nominated nevertheless. Well done to all involved.

AGM Date Set for 22 May

Sunday, 18 March 2012

The date of this year’s AGM has been set for Tuesday 22 May, starting at 7.45pm at Community House, Easemore Road.

We hope and expect all members to attend. Don’t forget that there will be lots of prizes to hand out, as always, and (hopefully) we will be entertained by a guest speaker after the meeting.

We hope to see everybody there (although, of course, we hope to see everybody the week beforehand as well at Tarantara! Tarantara!).
