NEWSLETTER
EXTRA - SEPTEMBER 2003
Welcome to this 'extra' issue of the ROS
Newsletter. We decided that for our friends not in the Autumn production,
we needed some way of letting you know of events and notices from the
society. So here it is, an extra special Newsletter for you!
The Autumn Show
Rehearsals for Carousel have
been going very well indeed and we have just reached that part when
it all just needs 'putting together'. Bev Hatton, Norma Kift and Val
Archer have been a fantastic team again giving the cast inspiration
and support. Tony Lacey has also been assisting Bev and early indications
suggest that this will be a smash of a show. Special thanks must also
go to our talented pianist Pauline Sherlock.
Ticket sales have been going well but as
with every show we need your help. It would be fantastic to be able
to use the 'Theatre Full' signs this year so please keep pushing the
show to all your friends and family. We would also appreciate any raffle
prizes you may like to donate.
Vice Presidents
We are always looking for Vice Presidents.
Numbers have declined over the last few years and we do need their support.
If you know of anyone who would like to be a Vice President or you would
like to nominate someone for a gift we would love to hear from you.
We ask for a donation of £10 which gives you various 'perks'.
For full details please contact Ann Duffin on 01527 527363.
You can also contact Ann for ticket sales
on the same number up until 1 November. For tickets after that date
please contact the Palace on 01527 65203.
Quiz Night
Tony Jay is once again organising our
annual Quiz Night at the Continental Club on Friday 24th October. It
is always an exciting evening and a chance for everyone to relax and
enjoy themselves.
There are still a few teams needed, if
you are interested, please contact Janet Howells on 01386 793387. Teams
should be of four people at a cost of £3 each. Food will be in
the form of an 'American Supper' and we therefore ask you to provide
a plate of food to share. There will also be a raffle on the night and
we would be grateful for any prizes you have to donate.
Sponsorship Scheme
Over the last two years the society has
built up a sponsorship scheme for interested local businesses. ROS will
provide advertisement in the programme, complimentary tickets and other
benefits for companies making a contribution of £50. All involved
in the scheme last year agreed on how successful it was. If you know
of any companies who would be interested please contact Paula Eaves
on 01527 545562.
After Show Dinner
On Sunday 23 November at the Montville
Hotel, Evesham Road the society will be holding an after show dinner.
The cost is £10.25 per person and promises to be a super event
to celebrate the efforts of the Society during Carousel. If you are
interested in coming along please contact Janet Howells.
Badges and Posters
Posters are available for Carousel, if
you can find places to display them please contact a member of the society
who will get some for you.
We are also taking orders for badges, bottle
openers, key rings and fridge magnets with either the ROS logo or Carousel
picture on them. Contact Marcus Bridger if you would like to buy any
of these. Alternatively, pop along to one of our Tuesday rehearsals,
we would love to see you.
The Future
Our 2004 show will be 42nd Street
which will be an exciting challenge for the society. We are also planning
a Spring Concert Tour 2004 which will give us all an extra chance to
exercise our vocal chords! The provisional theme is 'The Music of Cameron
Mackintosh.'
